Common flossing mistakes
It’s easy to make mistakes when flossing. Below are some of the most common errors and misconceptions that people have about flossing and its importance as part of their overall home oral hygiene care.
- Never flossing – Many people lead stressed and busy lifestyles, and flossing is not always a top priority. However, flossing is just as important as brushing in the prevention of dental decay and periodontal problems-and it only takes a few minutes!
- Not flossing daily – Because plaque build-up occurs so quickly, not including flossing as part of your daily hygiene procedure will increase the chances of cavity and gum disease formation.
- Not taking your time while flossing – You cannot perform proper flossing if you try to rush. On average, you should take two to three minutes while flossing. It’s worth the time!
